Surfing Waves

Been riding longboards for 9 yrs and at the beginning of 2016 decided to shortboard.Stepped down to a very wide,thick 6'4 shortboard.
It took me a few weeks of "surfing" to even stand up!
Around mid july purchased the rusty dwart with stock dims in a 6'4.Its now time to move on from that board and get a groveler/summer fun board (im in the southern hemisphere).
Which models have a flattish rocker,suit small 1-3ft beach break waves,clean as well as mushy, and are targeted at a beginner-intermediate surfer?

Rusty touts the Dwart as the board that does it all and, in any flatter faced waves below a couple of feet overhead, I agree. The Dwart is extra fast and feels as smooth as silk between transitions or while flying down the line in less hollow waves.

Outside of a pure groveller, something like a firewire sweet potato, you've got the board you're looking for already. Unless you can work a wave, a sweet potato won't give you much more than the dwart IMO in small waves.

Who told you that you need to "move on"? If you're surfing a 6'4" dwart that's like mid 40s liter volume.....that's already ALOT packed into a 6'4" planshape....how much smaller and fatter do you want to go and why?

You mean "Marketed" to beginner-intermediate surfers who shouldn't be riding short(er) boards in 1 foot beach break mush.

Agree with Big H - unless you are going to go much smaller eg a potato version or dumpster diver etc; the board you have is a good choice. Realistically your next move should be to a smaller 6ft4 ish board, not to a 5ft5 board. You will probably find standing up on a grovellor as hard as you found moving to the shortboard, if not harder.

I guess a hypto krypto or CI average joe at, say, 5ft10 or 5ft8 could be a 'middle' option. But they probably dont offer much more than your current board other than the dubious 'attraction' of being a few inches shorter

Otherwise, if you really want a grovellor, then firewire make some good ones as do CI. However, if you are in Australia then just get a 6ft6 or 6ft8 (or longer) fish or even a similar length funboard
