Stupid question on ding repair

Hey everyone,

I made a mistake, but anyway... I had a few dings on my PU board that needed to be fixed for a long time. So 2 days ago I finally managed to get to it. As I have done a fair bit of surfboard repairs, I did have all materials needed, except catalyst... So when I prepared my board I realised that I have resin, qcell, but pretty much empty bottle of catalyst (only a drop of it on the bottom of the bottle). Because I already was sort of half way through, I decided to continue mixing my resin with that drop of catalyst as it usually needs about 1% of catalyst anyway. So I mixed my resin, added qcell, achieved required thickness and applied it to my dings.

Ok.. now 2 days later I see it is still soft, while usually it hardens within 24 hours. xxxxx! Obviously it wasn't enough catalyst in the mix. I know I made a mistake and should have waited till next morning to go to surf shop to get more catalyst, but coz I was lazy and half way through I didn't... My bad..

So now my question is - does anyone know if it hardens eventually? Because I am so lazy again, I would wait for another few days or even a week until it hardens rather than go to surf shop and redo the job... :)

If anyone had similar experience it would be great to share :) Thanks!

P.S I called my nearest shaper and he laughed at me, but said he has no idea as he never did any sort of that mistake :)

How deep is the ding fill ? Is there fiberglass cloth on top of the q-cell layer ?

Would you wait years for it to harden? I would get some catalyst and scoop it out and redo it.

yes agreed. 3 days later pretty much no change ahaha... so it probably will take forever to dry... if ever :) so will have to redo the job. oh well lesson learned :) thanks everyone anyways :)
