Ding repair question

I put a small ding in my board near the nose (and stringer) and I'm not sure whether I can get away with using Solarez since it isn't a crucial flex point or if I should go the full length with Qcell and cloth patch. The depth of the ding is a couple sixteenths deep. Thanks!

Have you ever done a repair with fiberglass cloth and resin ? A few sixteenth isn't enough room for the Q-cell, just multiple layers of cloth would be better and stronger. I just fixed a similar sized ding with Solarez, no problem. Just make sure you get finer grit sand paper than what comes in the kit.

glassor,
you were smart to provide photos. I'd fill this dent with resin or Solorez. I would not bother to mix resin and Q-cell and would not add any glass.

Awesome, thanks for the responses billie_morini and waikikikichan!
I have done fiberglass / resin repairs on a old longboard, but this stick is my first shortboard and I'm a little nervous that my fix will mess up the contour of the nose rocker. I think I'll go with a basic solarez fill and keep an eye on it.

Use a thin piece of cardboard or something to squeegee the resin smooth instead of craft sticks.

Then make sure to use a small sanding block than you curved finger tips.
If you do the trick with hard clear plastic covering the Solarez, it match the contours and not much sanding to do.
