Breakthrough In Surfing Technologies

Postby PTI » Fri Sep 16, 2016 12:53 am

Would anyone be interested in an extremely accurate surf tracker built into a surfboard fin that tracks and records surfing data such as waves surfed, distance surfed, speed, and tricks preformed all displayed on an app with an online community of surfers interacting on the same platform displaying surf data, where the best surfers are currently surfing, which beaches are the most crowded, and tides. Please reply if you would be interested in this technology and/or would like to know more. Thank you.

Some of the latest watches do most of what you say.

Personally I think this kind of thing is an annoying gimmick.

How does the fin know what "Maneuver" you just did ?

Ask most "good" surfers and they don't know or don't care how many waves they rode. How fast do I want to go ? I just want to match the flow of the wave, what ever that is.

That might be fun or interesting but not so much I would buy a board just to have it. Most important thing is that the board does what you want .....if it keeps track of that also that might be more fun but if it means you have to ride aboard not quite right for you then it won't be popular. I think they have watches or something that does approximately that already but mounted in the board would give you a different set of information and that might be more interesting.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

This already exists it's a circular disc you plop on your board and it does all of the above mentioned, not really a breakthrough if it's already a thing, only kids with too much money to spare would buy one, I wouldn't even if I had unlimited money, it's pointless!

This. And I won't be purchasing one of those watches either. I'd rather have a drone with a camera sort of thingy that can film me surf so I can go home and analyze.
