What kind of board do I have?

Postby JimmySurferDude » Mon May 09, 2016 2:08 am

Hey guys, I grabbed a board off a rack at Ron Jon Cocoa Beach, and got all the accessories needed... the board is Epoxy, dimensions are: 8' x 22 1/16" x 2 7/8" Square tail with FCS II Performance Fins. What kind of board is it, and is it ok for me being 200lbs and 5'10"?

Thanks.

NO picture no know, 792 boards on the rack ATM how are we to know.
They sort of have brand names, could be a little on the short side because it is an 8ft square tail. Sounds like a fun board but at your weight could be a little challenging to paddle.

Sort of a little careless buying and then asking if it is suitable.
We are here to help but it is a little hard after the fact

No the measurements are really not enough, you described it as a fun board on another of your posts, but more information would help us help you.
A picture of the full length of the board, depending on the rail line and how wide the nose and tail are there are a number of board types that fit those measurements and some do not fit beginners :D

I described it as a funboard because I don't know how else to describe it... people are saying longboards are 9' or longer... And Funboards are just shorter than longboards.

I don't have any trouble paddling, I catch nearly every wave I try for.

I see in the description of a funboard that you can noseride it. However, if you have any personal experience with noseriding, would you say it's possible on an 8' funboard, or would I need to first swap out some fins on my board? I have 3 FCSII Performers. From what I've seen, typically noseriders have the extra long middle fin. I can't seem to find video of anyone doing noserides on a Funboard.

Would you go on a blind date, knowing only the person's height and width ? Or is that enough to go on. A picture means a thousand words.

You could give 10 shapers those exact dimension and EACH board would look different and ride different.
