Fins

Looking at buying a new set of fins. I've been surfing a few years, but living in London means I don't get out as much as I'd like.

I lent my board to a friend and unfortunately am now 1 fin short :( after it was snapped off so I figure now is a good opportunity for some shopping. I've read the post about fins pinned to the forum but wanted other people's advice on specific fins. I have a 7'10 thruster set up with an fcs fin box. I've been looking at the different Al Merrick fins but just want something for an intermediate surfer.

Any opinions would be great!

Uncle Jaffa steps in, did the last set up work well for you? If so go the same! Use the guide i wrote as just that guide, look at how you want to tweak your surfing and buy a set that fits that too! See what works for you! Take some time, Another option where ch can tweak your surfing is to get a larger centre fin , visit a single fin approach, the centre fin for the board now may leave you as pretty awkward so something about 7" .
Be aware though a single fin of that size on plugs can strain them !
Go play ,

What were the FCS fins that you had before ? M-5's in Glassflex are the standard basic fin.
Do you surf mainly beach break ?
Is your 7'10" more a mini-mal or more funboard shaped ?
What did / did not like about you "old" fins ?
Is there a surf shop nearby that has a "Box of Singles" that you can replace just the one fin ?
Why do they call it "chips" when you get fries with your "fish and chips" ?
