Hi everybody,
I'm still very new to surfing and recently I discovered a crack on the plastic bottom of my 8" Softech surfboard that I have only used a few times. Now I'm wondering if it's possible to repair it and if I can do it myself.
The board has an EPS core so I can't use stuff like Sponge Rez. But I've read that some people just use hot glue to fix it. So would covering the crack with glue be a good solution?
Thanks in advance.

You should be able to get a product called SolarEZ the epoxy version which is a quick and easy patch. The question is do you want to have this board for very long or want to get a resonable price for resale? If the answer is no then glue is fine.

So using a product like this would be okay/safe?
http://solarez.com/products/epoxy-2-oz-tube/I don't think the bottom of the board is made out of epoxy?

At least the materials will be compatible. I think they use epoxy glue to fix delaminations but this is a puncture. Because it is soft I am not sure what is the best way to fix a soft board and I guess in reality they don't last long so maybe glue gun is as good as anything else. Sorry if it seemed like I knew about soft boards I just knew the foam would tolerate the epoxy resin. Not sure about the hot gun glue.

Since the bottom is not hard fiberglass but more like a bodyboards vinyl skin, I would just put a circle shaped sticker over it. If you"re too worried, then fill the hole with silicon sealant, then put the sticker over it. Prep the area with rubbing alcohol first.

I used hot glue on the same ding. It survived 5-6 sessions and the water was dropping starting from the second session.
Save session repair of the same ding is completely water tight, almost invisible and has
survived already more than fifty sessions.
Solarez, blobb and other stuff could be detrimental to the foam. U never know how this material will get a leak inside the board.

Plumber's tape works as a temporary solution if you're wanting to get back in the water ASAP. I keep some in my car for minor surf dings that I don't want to end my session.
