Surfboard with little storage space?

Postby cmaddox23 » Sun Sep 13, 2015 11:53 pm

I moved to Hawaii recently, and have been surfing a couple times and love it. Looking around at used boards, but this is my problem. I'm 5'10 and 168 pounds. I understand that I should start on a longboard, and that is what's best, but I am in the military and live In barracks, so a board around 7-7'4 is probably as big as I could fit in my room. Does anyone know of any particular boards that are shorter like that, that still have plenty of width, and float?

You can have a look at the walden mega magic, or mini magic. Expensive though

Look for a fun board (or mini mal, same thing) that has a bit of extra thickness eg close to 3 inches; and pretty wide (say 22 inches +\-). And as long as you can have. There will be quite a few boards around with those dimensions, give or take (eg 21.5 inches wide or 2 3/4 thick). A rounded nose (longboard shaped), rather than pointy. Not too much rocker (most fun boards will be fine on this). Should be able to find something

Being smaller it will make things harder but not impossible - better that you give it a go than do nothing! Post up any potential boards of you are unsure
