All around board search

Postby saltcreep » Mon Jun 08, 2015 1:56 am

So I've been on the look out for an all around board and came across a few that seem promising but, I feel like I'm still kinda lost about it all. Basically what I'm looking for is something that can take on head to slightly over head to waist high. In Austin Texas theyre about to open (in 2016 sometime) a wave pool for surfing so this kinda pushed me more to get something! I've considered getting a custom rather then off rack but, I'm not clear on exactly how I want it. What catches my attention the most are the hybrids such as the Haydenshapes Shred Sled. the design and the way it's thought out seems like a nice board! only thing is would be the volume. heard it doesn't do to well in slowish mush so what could I do to compensate for it? the more I think about it the more I wanna get a custom and revolve the design around the way the Shred Sled is.

Hold your horses ! Texan! It is highly likely that that an all round board will not fit tanker surf and a wave pool surf especially since the wave pool is a year off!

If the surf is mush then you may find you are riding hype type rather than a board that can do it for you.
A bustem custem or an air flair might get you there.
The boards suit surfers who are really capable! Are you?
The reason I ask is my home break gets lots of visitors on these boards only the good riders can get them working!
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷

Then Don't. If you are not sure of what you want, then either you will tell the shaper to make a wrong board. Or he will make you something that will not fit your expectations.

You ever had the waitress ask "would you like to order ?" You say "yes" and she comes over to your table. You ask a bunch of questions. She explains this and that. She stands there tapping her pen as you "Hmm, Ahh, Maybe, this one looks good, hmmm ................. Then she says " I'll come back when you're ready "

YOU are not ready. so don't waste the shapers time. And nothing is wrong with a off the rack board.
