Protecting your stick in transit!

Hi all!

After having a few run ins with transporting my boards via airlines. I have stumbled accross these guys as a solution:

Rail packing, recycled paper/wood, reusuable and clips together nicely...looks fantastic! cant get it in 9'3" though and can't get it in the UK...

What do you all think and have you seen any other easy solutions for transporting bigger boards?

When I transported my board by bus, I used some layers of bubble plastic (thick layer), and a pillow to protect the fins. I guess I also used a blanket. I'm sure it can be more protected with some styrofoam, specially in the fins, specially since air travels are usually longer and the board goes from more hands to hands. But bubble plastic is cheap and helps a lot!

Trust when I say I've done this approach with two longboards and a fish...but it is SO wasteful! and you have to have it SO thick as well!
I'm thinking at the moment of pipe lagging on the rails as I can't get the above in the UK that I can see!
The BIG diff between short boards and classic logs is the weight! it gets dropped it lands a lot harder than a short board :-/

Asian airlines and inter island ferries do strange stuff to longboards.
A Korean woman tried to use my board as a gangplank

Uncle jaffa's system , fins out, hand shaped bubble wrap nose and tail cones, if known rough trip, taped on beer carton rail covers ( packing knife shaped for appliance cardboard)) board sock board short ball at nose and tail.
Then a good travel board bag.
All good

My Bisect ( break in two travel board) comes with its own bag system! This is for air travel that won't take long boards, board magic magically becomes personal sports equipment.

Pool Noodle. Cut it down the length wise. If they don't have pools in the UK, you could also use the pipe insulation that already has the slit down the side. Make relief cuts to make the hard bends around the tail.

Yeah chan, that's what I was thinking, pipe lagging towels on top and bottom and warn my ding guy!

Jaffa, I'm flying Emirates who I was with when my other boards got slightly dinged!
I hope it doesn't get used as a gang plank lol

Any suggestions on bags from experience? I'd only be taking one board!
It will be my first time to Bali (Canggu) and from what I've seen, my Classic Malibu log would be wonderful to have!
Failing that I'll take my Fish as less likely to get damaged but glassed in fins instead lol

Pipe lagging sounds like a better and reusable idea. I imagine bubble wrap would be really wasteful on a longboard, I had to use about 9 meters on my 6'1" board I guess. It was a single trip (getting my board back to the coast after fixing it) so it worked fine.
The pool noodles are probably safer and less wasteful
