Why worry about tail pads and stuff at this stage? Get your surfing skills working. Tail pad won't do anything to get you learning yet! Tail pads come into play when you can start to drive turns from the back of the board.

Enjoy the simplicity of your early learning

The NSP 6'4" Fish to my knowledge have always come with a tail pad already installed on the board. My 6'4" NSP Fish that is over 10 years old has a stock factory tail pad.
