Poly or Epoxy on poly board?

So in the past I've always used epoxy resin for repairs on both epoxy boards and poly boards but now I'm starting to wonder whether epoxy bonds as well to a poly board as poly resin would? Need to do some repairs on a board I've just acquired, replace fin plug and stick a plug in the deck for a go pro mount. It's a poly board so should i just use epoxy as usual or would I bet better off with poly? and is poly harder to work with?
