Hi
I bought 1mm neopren suit (top only)
for protection as I had terrible rash (chaffing) all over my body esp. nipples last time I surfed (i'm beginner)
now I'm worried whether it'd be too hot to wear in Bali in september.
What do people wear in Bali when surf?
Is just rash guaard enough for you?

Welcome to the CNS and this forum, you will bevadequately served by a surfing rash vest or your neoprene vest ( it will a little warmish) do not be tempted to use Vaseline on neoprene anythings as they will perish!
Have fun in Bali

Thanks for warm welcome!
I've heard of Vaseline issue, so I'm gonna get Body glide which I heard is safe with wetsuit.
(both from the forum and product description from the website)
Do you mean that rash guard itself should be enough in terms of rash protection?
I'd only be able to surf in tropical region pretty much, so I actually prefer rash guard alone.
But only worried about the chaffing since I had bad one last time when I used rashie given from the surf school.
Sorry for being unclear but i guess my genuine question is why I had bad chaffing last time
and how can I prevent that.
Any help?

Chafing is caused by the fabric moving around over your skin. So possibly you have the wrong size - either not tight enough (wetsuits, for example, are usually quite tight so there is no movement) or not loose enough (in which case the fabric can just waft around without rubbing on the skin, like 'normal' clothes).
This is a fairly common issue for rash vests/1mm tops actually, because they often dont stretch like a wetsuit so people buy them a little bit bigger because looser is more comfortable - but then they are just loose enough to rub on the wet skin.
So what you might need is either a tighter top or a looser top. I have bought a few sailing rash vests myself, which are basically t-shirts ie very loose. The alternative is a tight top, maybe a size or two down from what you have.
Bali the water is, I dont know, mid 20s C or higher. Air temp is high 20sC. A rash vest will be fine - you dont need any warmth but you do definitely need sun protection.
