hey,
sorry i know there was a post a bit like this recently but i need to know the best roof rack / straps / pads combo. I'll have two boards on there and i've never used a roof rack for boards before. i've got a hard roof rack and both boards will be in bags.
so are there any particular straps / pads anyone would recommend or any nifty tips on stopping my beatiful board from being damaged or falling off my car on the motorway?!
cheers
rich

Rich - if you have roof bars already then just get yourself down to B&Q or similar and buy some tubes of foam pipe insulation lagging. The grey stuff. Shoudn't cost you more than a couple of quid.

Also buy some duck tape.

Split the pipes down the seam and then wrap then around your roof bars securing it with plenty of duck tape.

Then you just need to get some straps to tie your boards down with - something like these will do the trick:

You can buy cheaper ones but these have specific protective pads behind the buckles to make sure your board does not get dinged.

cheers dude much appreciation!

i'll get myself some of that stuff straight away...

one more thing though, will the fins of the board on bottom get in the way of the other board? they are very similar length. should i take the fins off?
