Surfing Waves

I know many people surfing Santa Barbara County don't wear booties but I have incredibly poor circulation throughout my body and it seems my feet have it the worst. I can barely sit in the water for 15-30 min before feet start turning white due to a medical condition. Tried my buddy's 3mm Xcel booties and they didnt keep my feet quite warm enough. Is it worth getting 5mm booties or should I just deal with slight numbness in 3mm booties?

If you have some comment about how someone surfing SoCal shouldn't need booties, save it I have heard plenty from my buddies.

g_hardy34 which model (R3 or R4) did you get and how thick are they? I'm getting myself a pair of booties but my main concern is the feel of my board when I'm out in the water. I don't like my feet going numb, but at the same time I want to not feel like I'm wearing shoes.

If you haven't already bought booties, check out the Xcel 5mm Drylock booties. They keep us really warm in the pacific northwest with water temps under 50 degrees Fahrenheit at times. They are taped on both sides and don't let a lot of water in, and you can still feel your board. I have also worn the O'Neill 5mm heat booties and like those a lot also!

If not too late, i think you will like the Quiksilver Cypher II series booties. They have a bio-fleece thermal neoprene lining that is a very nice and very warm fabric. You can get them in 3mm and 5mm. My buddy from NY bought a pair of them at The Beach House at 10 Street, SB, last year. Then we went surfing. Following surfing, we dried his booties on my Cabela's dryer. They dried nicely.

These are really nice and flexible booties. They're glued and blind stitched and have split toe, bead lock ankle seal, reinforced toe and ankle, and textured soft sole. They cost about $60.

I'd agree with tony_g, excel booties are pretty good and the warmest boots Ive ever had
