Surfing Waves

Hello everyone,

So I've put my first surfboard through a lot of wear/tear/travel/kook moves. The rail toward the very front of the nose is starting to become rough and lose its shiny smoothness, which I'm assuming means that the fiberglass is wearing off. Do I need to have this professionally "re-glassed"? Is this common? It is about 3 years strong

No point just get a new board unless you really want to spend the money

I don't think fibreglass really wears off unless the inside of your boardbag is lined with sandpaper.

Lol I believe he's taking about the yellowing of the resin, which can be prevented while the board is being glassed, by resin pigments etc.

Take it to a professional ding repair person in your area. They will be able to assess the damage and advise you to get it fixed or just buy a new board.

This is my first board, and I'm not really familiar with the different materials, etc. which I guess would be a good thing to read up on. I've come to the conclusion that this is just the gloss coat wearing off, and I'm assuming since all boards do not have a gloss coat, that it's OK.
