May be buying Tiki Oxygen Fish 6'10- cant find any info

Postby draper3000 » Mon Oct 28, 2013 12:26 pm

Afternoon world.

(First post here. :-) ... bookmarked the site as one of my tabs, so should be around a lot more as I get used to my new surfing lifestyle.

I moved to the beach 3 months ago (Wembury, South Devon)... been surfing about 3 times a week solidly... finally looking to try something other than my old 8'2 Bic Mini Mal'.... which is great but when the surf is bigger I'd love to be able to duck dive, get out past the heavy foam and improve my turns.

my budget is low.. so going 2nd hand..

I'm 6ft 2... and not exactly fat :-)

the local surf is a minute away and varies from 3 to 6ft... often pretty messy... but the UK, Cornish coast is only an hours drive away which gets more regular cleaner surf. I've read a lot and narrowed down to the sort of board I want.

A short, fat board... fish tail.

Ideally I'd be getting a
- Tiki Fat Boy Flyer 6'8,
- Webber Fatburner 7'2
- 7S Superfsh 7'2
- Beach Beat FatBoyFlyer 6'8. ..

I've found what I think is the ideal board for the price but can't find any old or new info on the board.

It's described as a Tiki Oxygen Fish 6'10. With new leash, and bag and the price is right.

Brand new leash

He says the board is 1 year old.

Plus I can collect locally.

Has anyone heard or used a Tiki Oxygen? the offical Tiki website has a page for Oxygen but its blank, as is the photo for the section on the main page.... Google searches bring up nothing other than the guys ebay site... (I'm planning to buy privately not through ebay as he's advertising else where.)

From the pics it looks narrower than a fatboy... but at 6'10 it should still be pretty sweet.

Thanks for any info or advice.

(I'll post some pics/vids of Wembury surf later today, as it should be pretty decent after last nights storm).

All the guy for the dimensions, if it's a true fish at 6'10 it should be at least 20 wide in order to maintain a true "fish"outline. Thickness isn't too much of a problem as how wide it is and the amount of rocker.

Hi draper3000, welcome to Surfing Waves!

A second hand board is a sensible way to go when starting out. Look forward to your Wembury footage although it's probably a little wild at the moment I would have thought.

Here is the very board you are talking about
http://surfboards.org.uk/tiki-oxygen-61 ... surfboard/ More what I'd call a swallow tail rather than a true fish!

What are the dims? I'd stay away from 7s and Webbers, those are china pop outs. Didn't Webber shape for Taj back in the day?
