Firewire Mini Driver or CI Fred Rubble

Postby vertex » Wed Aug 21, 2013 9:16 am

Hi,

need some advice for my next surf board purschase.

I have been surfing now a js blackbox for the last 1.5 years. Really happy with the board. However, I miss sometimes performance in steeper/bigger waves (anyway I know that this board is not intended to perform in those kind waves)

6.0
20
2 1/2
31,4 LT

So I am looking for a "step up" board when the waves get bigger (for me around 6ft) or steeper. Very interested in quad fin option.

Thought about the Firewire Mini Driver 6.0 or the CI Fred Rubble 6.0

Any experience with those boards? At the moment I am more inclined towards the mini driver. Should I go with the firewire or with the lost original version?

Cheers

If you're willing to pay that much for a new board why not just go to a local shaper?

U say FireWire because they are shot more durable than a regular pu. Just make sure you get the bamboo deck with parabolic rails

Got in touch with a guy who is selling local shaped boards today. They can do a custom made epoxy surfboard for me. So have niw two other questions.

Can i go lower on volume with an epoxy board (lower density material) So lets say from my 31lt js blackbox which i think is a little bit too much for me at the moment to a 28lt.

I can get a 5 fin setup (thruster/quad). They only stock fcs fins. Which quad fins would you go with (3-6ft waves). The guy has recommended the tc aqua line set. I thought about pc 5 paired with gx q

Cheers

Honestly I stick to futures just because I've invested so much money into them already. I'm sure someone else will have more insight as to fcs fins you should get. As far as volume, I've got a few fkoaty boards that I've taken out overhead, so it really is personal preference. Just make sure you like what you get and di your research, ask them if they have any used boards you could sample.
