Keeping Surfboard Safe in College Dorm

I'm off to college this fall. My idea was getting a bike cable and running it through the leash plug on the board and through the zipper on the board bag. I would then connect the cable to my bed and store it underneath out of harms way. That way, if they were to try to yank it, it would severely damage the board. I hate to say it, but I'd rather have a damaged board than a stolen one.

Can't trust anyone these days...Any other ideas guys?

having lived among students when young, I'd say your logic is necessary and sound. I'd do what you are planning to do. Here are some more refined ideas offered commercially. You can buy or fabricate your own.
