7'0 Ben Aipa Twin Fin for $50 - Worth it?

Postby edp5361 » Mon Aug 05, 2013 8:44 pm

I had an extra $50 and decided to get a cheap shortboard on craigslist to experiment with a different shape. However, this caught my eye because I currently don't have anything bigger than 6 feet. The guy just wants it out of his garage and is even willing to deliver. Included his description of it:

The nose is a bit cracked, but the grey stuff leading up to the nose is residue from duct tape, there used to be a foam noodle taped to it because it was used for wake surfing behind a wakeboard boat. The side ding is about the size of dime, just for a reference point.

The dimensions: Length: 7ft Width: 20.5" Thickness: 2.5" Fin Length: 6.5"

And if it matters, the other board I'm looking at is an Al Merrick 5"11" x 2 3/8 x 18 7/8 going for $50.

Will post pics of the aipa in a mo'.

There were a few other offers but I locked it in at $60.

I was hesitant because I don't know too much about the "big names" in the surfing industry, but I recognized AIPA and decided to pull the trigger anyways.

It's a real beautiful board! Thought it was surfable when I first got it, but when I took it to a shop they said its in great condition and that it should be a wall hanger instead. Glad I came across it!
