wax on, wax off....

um short of paying Ralph Macchio to come round to my house - is there an easy way to get wax of a surfboard.

I have an old battered bic that I never really used and now I have a shiny new board, I never will.

I want to try and flog it but it has had wax on it since the dawn of time - given the difference between clean and shiny v dirty and decrepit is probably around 50 bucks I wanted to clean it up a bit.

I have been going down the hot water and credit card route - but it's still pretty tough - anyone got any better tips?

Oh and there is no sun...

I believe you have the answer in your tool kit. Nickyb, your hair drier, set it on high put your board on a slope work high to low, you can use a paint scraper on the Bic or buy a cheap plastic wax scraper at the local surf shop. scrape down and away at the hottest part, BTW Tap hot water is not quite hot enough kettles of boiling water more the go. messy tedious etc but that's what wax cleaning is!!! The runckled surface of the BIC plastic makes it harder!

Thanks guys - sadly it appears there's no quick fix - I went for the boiling water and paint scraper - definitely made it easier. All up it took me around 2 hours, have in reality probably increased resale value by about 10 bucks :-)
