Egg for Begginer?

Postby FeodorD » Sun Jul 21, 2013 2:23 pm

Hi! I am new to surfing. I live in NJ. My height is 6'1 and weight is 163 lbs. I am 15 years old and i am pretty athletic person.
I do not want to get a longboard, my goal is to shortboard. I will be able to surf about 3 times a week.
I'm thinking about getting egg-like board. Like one of this:

What do you think about it?

At 15 you can pretty much choose what sort of board to surf on.
Adaptability and flexibility are are your friend, I would however go the wider, longer thicker of the boards you are looking at.
The learning curve will be steeper but they are short boards even at 7ft.
Flotation through the bigger dimensions will help you catch waves, the waves being the ultimate teacher, more waves means more learning means more skill.
One more thing make sure the boards are not too lightly glassed or light blanked , learners are hard on boards, similar things in epoxy might be a little more durable>
Enjoy your learnings
