ive found using the sticky bumps basecoat over where you would normally wax in a nice heavy layer so its nice and bumpy, then add the cold palmers over it and the palmers sticks much better, and you use lss of it, and got all the traction shape of the wax below it. Just my opinion though.

if your using cold wax in cold water, and the water is cold enough to keep it firm and not move around and stuff, then yea its probally fine; but when the water is warmer and it gets all mushy and moves around and stuff, you want to use some basecoat so it stays in place and you end up using less wax. Ive surfed here where the water has been so warm I was just using basecoat, and it was melting off. Wasn't that fun, but it made me see the point in using the basecoat.

I heard that that foot idea doesnt work too well. Sand would get on any wax thats there.... and i imagine it wouldnt stick well to the feet, and would scape off first chance it gets.
