Base Wax?

Postby gatorbait231 » Tue Feb 12, 2013 10:14 pm

Alright so I'm pretty new to surfing, started last year and know the basics. However, I'm having trouble keeping the wax on my board. I recently heard from a friend down in Costa Rica that he melts his base wax onto his board. Does this work? And if you do this what brand of wax to you like the most?
Thanks, Alex

Some guys melt the wax on their boards and some don't. Their are lots of ways to wax your board and you will find that there are many different ideas out there. If you use a good base wax, or even a warmer temp wax than your top coat it should help you lots. You want to start with a clean board and put your base wax or harder wax on first and try to get a lot on the board. It will take a little longer to put on because the wax is harder, and that's why it will stay on the board better. If the water and air are extremely warm it can be a challenge.
