Please read - £(cost to me) carbon repair in exchange for (my logo on your 'board). . .
'Tell you what, I'll fix it with top grade Mitsubishi carbon for £75.oo (you pay return p&p) . . . but only if you allow me to put my logo on your 'board so others would get to know of me as I am not a business in this field . . just an expert![]()
Yes £150 is alot . . . but just one wrong breath over the carbon fibre cloth would ruin the perfect weave finish so desired as a bonus to its' strength and lightness. With carbon you pay for the carbon cloth and the skiil of 'glasser (if the glasser messed up and had to re-start, that's a whole new sheet of carbon which is vastly more expensive than the cost of decent fibreglass per sheet !).
I could however use single layer E-glass or even S-Glass Aerialite [much higher tensile strength than ordinary E fibreglass strands] and charge you £50.oo (with costs to me of, wait for it . . just just £1.50 plus time involved). If the cloth moved at all it would not matter as the refractive index of the resin I would make-up would be made to match that of the fibreglass cloth used so all and any flaws would be totally invisible (as would all of the cloth / resin). I would of course say it was actually perfect. With the carbons . . it has to be perfect . . you'd blatantly see it if it were not!.
So then, a light fragile £50.oo repair walloped in, or a £150.oo (£75.oo to you) tank proof deck applied by an expert that happens to be a work of art into the bargain ?
Okay . . . all the above might seem a bit over the top on a £100.oo 'board, but I bet I have you thinking 'what if' now!
Hey . . hang on a minute . . . leaky hollow carbon's cost sommit like £1200.oo new don't they ? with absolutely no guarantee ? (dunno) - ppppft, I'll include the repair of any carbon 'glassing defects free for two years, you just pay for p&p each time should a repair be required - Hey Presto you might now posses the most desirable carbon decked surfboard ever . . . with 24months free repair for the amazing outlay of just £175.oo + p&p [you should now be thinking " how much could I sell this on for? "!!!].
If you have read this far . . . what do you reckon? (I am police checked and can prove so as and when required as I must by law in my area of business) . . £75.oo + return p&p for a carbon decked 'board with 24 months guarantee as described above ? . . . hell it's gonna loose you £(100+ cost of another 'board) anyway . . . I reckon it's a no brainier. . . .
My way costs you £75.oo + p&p, your way costs you £100.oo + £New 'Board [EDIT: Plus effort and hassle and fuel and bad thoughts and mistrust and- omg !]
