Ok folks... so the other day I ordered a Bic Magnum, it came delivered with a ding so I returned it. In the meantime I decided to see what other options I had -- pickings can be slim here for used boards.

I'm 6'3" 190lbs.. total beginner. I've been out a few times on rented foam boards, looking to get something to learn on. I'd also like my wife to be able to use the same board.

We will be surfing pretty small waves in the New York and New Jersey area.

I came across this 9'6" Randy French HP nearby: http://imgur.com/a/s3z6j

Any opinions? What do you think a fair price would be?

Looks like a great board! Surf Tech boards are very expensive. The are extremely light and super durable. I would say with no dings it should be worth $400.-$500. range. If you can get if for less it would be a great deal. Price out the new ones if you get a chance.

I picked it up for $300. Has a few dings that look to be patched nicely, sanded smooth and water tight. Other than that, the gloss on the bottom has chipped away a bit, but that is more cosmetic than anything else. Bought it from an older gentleman, about 60 years old who said he has been surfing all his life. He talked to me for a good hour about surfing and had about 7 other boards in his arsenal. Can't wait to take it out this weekend!
