Epoxy Repair...

So I bought a few beater boards and i found that one has so many little patches where the epoxy has rubbed away to the 'patchwork'? fabric? I call it the stitches. anyways the epoxy instructions say to use the cloth over the dings when repairing the board. but it doesn't seem right... I mean they are just patches.
So being my cocky self I decided to skip the cloth and just apply the resin directly to the board.
So my Question is, did I just screw up the repair???
Thanks.

THe cloth fabric is what gives the strength to the resin in impacts and flexing. The resin will hold for a little while and then just fall out  So you will get to do it again, practice makes a better job.

Pictures of the one you fixed please, and how did you establish it was epoxy?

BTW if you are in the home of the gators maybe you could team up with Wormybear, Wild Life surfboards could be born

I figured it was epoxy because of the lightness of the board. as my 6'2" fiberglass board weighs more than the one I'm fixing up also I went to the shop yesterday and the dude told me it was an epoxy.
Unfortunately I'm too far south for Wormybear...

It's cool, you can take control over the peninsula market and I can take over the panhandle. We'll sew this place up like Coke and Pepsi and we'll put all our wise teachers up as world wide operations heads.

If you're ever this way hit me up and we can go surf some Pensacola mush. Also, if you get an overflow of project boards hit me up and I'll gladly buy or trade them from you.

Best of luck on your journey.

I think Wormy and Gator have their first testimonial, before a board has even left the floor
