Hi!
I'm thinking of buying a Spider Shaun Tomson Tri Fin Surfboard 6'0'' or 6'4''. Can't find any reviews of the board and almost no info about it. Has anyone tried one or have one? If so could you give any info about them? Good for smaller waves? bigger waves? easy to paddle? etc.
Thank you.

I've never surfed the board you are talking about, but have surfed other Spider boards and all the ones I've surfed have been fantastic. They had quality issues in the past, but there has been a shake up in the production line, new manager and quality control so these have been addressed, to my mind well above satisfactorily. I'd steer clear of older second-hand ones though.
They sent me a board about a year ago as proof of their new quality control, and if it can survive me it can survive anything. It is currently my favourite board, although the right waves for it have been lacking for quite a while now.

Thank you for the feedback garbarrage. It's good to know that you really enjoy surfing the spider boards and that the quality of the boards are great now - really need that cause i'm still a bit clumsy.
To bad you haven't tried a STTF

cause i really wanted to know how the STTF perform and i can't find any review or comment about it.
Again thank you for the feedback.

What board are you currently surfing? What level are you at/ how long have you been surfing? I find most board reviews to be pretty subjective particularly regarding performance. What works well for one may be absolute pants for another surfer. Give them a call/e-mail and explain your situation and what you are looking for, and what you are surfing now. They are surprisingly personable for such a big company and will have something to suit.
I have this one in 6'1, and goes great in anything from chest high to well overhead, for me it's the best board I've ever surfed, paddles into a wave surprisingly easy for the size, and seems to bite the face pretty quickly on the drop (might not be the board for you though):

I have 2 costume made boards now. A 7’2’’ kind like a gun for when the sea is big and a 6’3’’ for smaller waves. But the 6’3’’ is thick and wide so it’s easy to pick up waves and gives me the stability I need cause I only started surfing about 2 years ago.
But you were right the guys in safarisurf were just great. They do talk to you and advise you about the surfboard that best suits you. They are extremely friendly and helpful.

Post a wee piccy when you get it. Should be about 2 weeks if I remember right. They're pretty fast getting them out. Have been trying to get a few quid together to get a smaller wave/cheater/transition board for a while, but one thing or another keeps popping up and getting in the way of cash-flow. Stupid pregnant wife lol... Not getting much water time lately and find going straight back on to the 6'1 challenging after a couple of months out of the water. Something a bit floatier for a few sessions when the swell arrives or when I've had a tough day (physical job) would be very handy. Have a birthday coming up so may be able to convince the missus. Fingers crossed.

Will do

. I'm getting the board in the end of this week. The person who handles exports to europe is coming here to Portugal and he will deliver it to me in person. I will give you a feedback soon (i hope). The weather has been kinda crazy lately here... by this time of year usually the sea is calm with small waves perfect to surf in the end of the day after work. But it has been with big waves and all bumpy like it usually is in winter. On the good side we had a winter that looked like summer

.

Just leaving some feedback about the STTF. I’m loving surfing with it. Very easy to paddle and very easy to catch waves. I can catch the wave much early now. Also the board is very loose and great to maneuver and gives me the stability I need. I have only tried it with small waves (3 to 4 feet) cause the sea hasn’t been great to surf here. Can’t wait to try it in bigger waves.

Hi Nestum, I'm thinking about getting the STTF, I was wondering how you enjoyed the board and which waves it went best in?

You might not get a reply about the board as the original poster hasn‘t posted since 2012.
Probably a number of boards further on now!
