Shaping boards

How does one get into shaping boards?
I dont want the classic well u should meet a shaper and take on an apprenticeship...
in sofla not many out here...

Anyways what tools would i need?
what materials should i get for starting?
How much money does this run?
where do i start?

Start by getting "shaping 101 and glassing 101" they teach you.

yeah ive always wanted to shape a board i fixed a ding on my shortboard using the ding repair box which cost like £8 and looked like it had been printed of a computer, definatly looks somethin fun to do when its flat kick the car out of the garage

my friend and i were lookin a boards and were like "dude the prices are nuts" and my freind said "why dont u you build your own board?" Now i want to shape my own board but i would like to know how much tools and the materials cost. Could anybody give me an approxamate cost?
