Hey guys i have found some weird type of soft spot on my tail which is like three finger wide. Its not a pressure ding thats for sure, cause this weird spot if i apply a little bit of pressure you can see the glass go into the board a bit and it makes a weird crackling noise. never seen anything like this. it doesnt look like its delaminated its just really soft, if i hit it with a pen it will probably break? anyone know what it is and can i fix it like a normal ding repair?

It sounds like the glass is really thin in that spot. You should add some fiberglass to that area to reinforce the thin fiberglass. Sometimes sanders will sand the glass down to far in some areas, and you get weak spots in a glass job. Should not be hard to fix. Good luck.

It is best to sand an area before applying new fiberglass and resin. I would not sand all the thin glass away unless their was some delam, or I needed to open the damaged area to dry out the foam.

tony in my city i could only find this type of fiberglass which isnt woven like the ones in the kit, which kind of makes it seem just a tab thicker. Could this be used?

Yes, but it will be more difficult.Try to place the strands right on the area where you need the reinforcement. You could also take it to your local surf shop and see if they offer repairs.

Is it an epoxy or pu board? Just make sure you use the right stuff for you repair. You don't want this to happen:

Its pu. i got the right stuff. i never fixed anything like it before so ill see the outcome. waiting for the resin to dry, i really didnt like the fiberglass, kind of started coming apart,I have a feeling I'll have to take it to the shop. gonna get a hurt ego out of this if it doesnt come out right.
