Board for 50 lb girl 7 years old?

Postby joelt » Mon Jan 09, 2012 3:34 am

already has 6' soft top board
she has competed in 5 or 6 competitions for kids
We need to get her a smaller faster board for paddling and catching waves herself. (no more pushing in by dad) :(
Also she is having trouble making a bottom turn on the big heavy soft top.
What do you recommend?
Budget is around $300 US
Waves are beach break
Galveston so smallish choppy conditions but small to me can be chest or head high for her.
local shop has NSP surf betty
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
PS. internet search for kids only comes up with soft tops.

I would borrow or demo a couple different boards and see what works best for her before buying anything.

Awesome – keep stoking the events.

2 inches over head height with volume according to ability and body weight (Video instead of pushing).

Also she is having trouble making a bottom turn on the big heavy soft top.
New solid board.

What do you recommend?
Bespoke ‘board made by me.

Budget is around $300 US
$500.00 plus delivery and taxes.

Waves are beach break
Mine too.

Galveston so smallish choppy conditions but small to me can be chest or head high for her.
She’ll grow fast.

local shop has NSP surf betty
Don’t.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

(soft tops are good and provide for the non-hardboard surfing fraternity).
