Hi Guys,
I searched the forum but got no results.
I am wondering how to store your wetsuits if you won't be using them for a while and how you transport them if you drive (2+ hours/ wet on return drive...)
I have seen some duffel bags made for wetsuits, any of you use them?
Also, you hear that simply stuffing your wetsuit into your backpack (as many of my friends do) damages the neoprene or something.. Anybody like to comment on that?
Thanks, for your help,
Josh

For taking the wettie home, I use a dry bag from an army surplus store, the type you put inside a rucksack to keep the contents dry, basically a thick plastic duffle bag that's waterproof . I used to just rap it in a towel but you won't believe the smell inside your car the following day

.
For storage I just hang it up on a coat hanger.
I don't know about damage to neoprene but as the wax on my board is slowly turning black, I guess thats from the neoprene, so I think the neoprene will wear away long before damage from folding it occurs, it probably gets more stress in the water anyway.

I store my wetsuit in the shed (hung on a wide hanger).
I use a big rubber bucket (cost me about £3) to transport my wetsuit. It's great as if I'm away with my caravan or staying at someone's house, I can fill the bucket with water to give the wetsuit a rinse/soak in fresh water. I also stand in the bucket to peel my wetsuit off, it avoids getting grit/dirt on the wetsuit while getting changed.

Just out of interest as this topic has come up, my other half is currently doing product design at university, and ive come up with a solution for this problem. but what do you think of it. basically its a machine that would be installed at various surf spots, and it is like vending machine. but basically for a certain cost it will wash, disinfect and dry your wetsuit within 30minutes. the drying of the wetsuit would vary, but the aim would be to have it that it is touch dry, so no drops of water, and then you can just store hang it up in the airing cupboard for a few days and then store it, nice and clean and dry, as im fed up of having a wet boot in my car. does anybody have an opinion on such a machine?
Regards,
Tj

That's an excellent idea, especially in cement/tarmac car parks. Where did you get it?
