Thinking about this 7'2 for downsize

Hey guys,
I've cruised these forums for a little while but never registered until now cause I could just search for most of my answers but this question is a little specific even though you guys answer these types constantly. I've surfed a longboard for awhile now (9'6) although i used to have an 8'6 and had no troubles on it. I was just always fantasizing about pulling off the longboard with style. Lately I've realized that the waves here are usually not great for longboarding cause they are pretty short beach breaks with some point breaks that just get too big for me with my super flat longboard.

So long story short I'm keeping my longboard for those days that it is just perfect cause I love longboarding but I want to have a shorter board for the medium to larger waves. I'm 6'3 190lbs but I'm dropping weight fast. I was 205lbs then went vegetarian and just have been shedding weight every day. Last time I did this I ended up around 180 so I don't doubt I'll hit that again this time.

I've been keeping my eye out for a funboard but no one seems to be selling them, prob cause they love it. I've found a fairly well used board but it looks pretty cool. Its a 7'2"/14.25/20.5/13.25/2.5

My only worry is that I'm a bit too big for it but it has a pretty wide nose although its more a shortboard shape then a funboard. What do you guys think about this? Its a jump in size but the waves are pretty powerful here and I was able to stand on my gf's 7' tuflite on some white water but never got a chance to get out to the bigger waves on it.

I feel like i sound pretty sold on this board but if you guys say it'll be too difficult then I will definitely take that to heart.

Hello,
The best down sized board for you not only depends on your size, but your skill level as well. The best thing you can do is rent or borrow a board with similar dimensions and size and see how you do.
Good luck!
