Hi I'm new I have just finished paying of a huge debt and I am right now ready to go out and buy a surfboard. Can anyone recommend a board for me? I'm a beginner whose had a few surf lessons and I'm pretty excited to get out there in the water. I'll give you my height. I believe that plays an important factor as well as weight. I"m a 165 cm tall and 50kg. Can anyone recommend board sizes? Big thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi Charlotte098, welcome to Surfing Waves.
At 165 cms and skinny you won't need anything too large. A mini-mal of 7'2" - 7'6" should be ok, you can go longer if you like. Make sure it's got plenty of width. Don't be afraid to have a chat with someone in your local surf shop (if you have one), and if you know any surfers, perhaps you can test drive a few boards to see if you find something you like.
The main thing thing to keep in mind is that you don't want to get a shortboard, you don't want to get a fish, and you don't want a softboard.
Have you surfed before, or are you starting from scratch? If you've surfed before, what was the board that you surfed on? did you get on ok with it?

Hi it's been a while since I've attempted surfing but I'm sure I'll remember how so you're saying I should look at a surf shop? What's it like if you buy a used board like the ones on ebay? What type of material are boards made out of are there any differences?
