stinky booties

What do you guys do about keeping booties from getting REALLY smelly?

I always wear my booties... cold New England water.... I wear 6mm Patagonias.

I alway rinse them in fresh water when I get home, and clean them with a dilute solution of Simple Green which helps. If I do an early AM session, I can leave them outside and they dry out a bit quicker and with less smell. But when I surf late in the day, they end up in the basement soaking wet and don't dry for days and get pretty stinky.

Suggestions?

Don't pee in your wetsuit!

ha! I don't and that isn't the issue. My wetsuit seems to dry quickly and without smelling foul... just my booties!

I think it's just the way booties get. All the sweat and grot gets washed down to your feet.
Your rinsing them out, just try to dry them out quickly. A soak in weak washing powder solution can make them smell a bit nicer.
At least you can store them in your basement and don't have to keep them under the bed.

I like to triple rinse my booties and shake the water back and forth inside the bootie to get them super rinsed. If that does not work their are lots of wetsuit conditioners out there that will take the bad smell away. The smell is from bacteria, so you want to get rid of it.

Paddle out into some overhead dumpers and you forget about the smell
