Recently bought a used board for my brother(as a peace offering) to come out and surf with me, the board is in pretty good condition, the only problem is that the stringer on the nose is protruding through.can a surfboard wax or tape job hold out the water until I can get it fixed?

Don't do a wax or tape repair , not reliable enough! Wax covering also needs quite a bit of cleanup before a real repair
In about the same amount of time you can do a temporary repair of pretty good quality aand durability with a product like solarez which has resin gel, glass fibre sand paper and instructions.I 'd go that way
Hey show us a picture of your problem, and more advice will come your way

thanks for the reply.the bad thing is that where I live, no store is open on Sunday, I would have to wait till the weekday to get a quick fix kit, that is why I asked if it would hold for at least one kook session.Image

OK since you can't buy stuff the tape to use would be duct tape, and then leave the board to dry after the surf out of the sun but somewhere warm.
The problem as the board is the torn glass can cut or abrad you and also a good wipeout could strip the glass back further, the surf shop will do a bit better than the solarez job but that would adequate :D
