Superfish anygood?

Hi,

I am after some advice please...

Last year I stepped down from an 8' Minimal to a 6'10 hybrid and to be honest have really struggled unless the conditions are perfect (I was clearly not honest with myself about my abilty level or quality of local waves!)

The Mal feels slow now so I wanted something faster to progress on, but the hybrid does not go too well in the mushy slop I surf on the south coast most of the time. I keep hearing rave reviews about the 7s Superfish - does anyone have one? Are they any good?

Im 6'4 and 13st...

was thinking of the 6'8 superfish XL...

Cheers

Jim

i tried out a superfish once. i didn't like it. IMHO it's too big of a board to be sporting the fish shape. you end up with the worst of both worlds. although i don't know much about your location so maybe it'll work well over there.

^^^ I agree with that... but Ive seen a friend of mine surf one amazingly well, so maybe its just getting used to it.

For mushy slop, they'll do the job of catching waves, but it'll still be an effort to keep moving. And at 6'4, you should be looking at the 7' is you want a real benefit over the hybrid.

I have ridden the super fish and they work really well! They catch waves east and are super fast and maneuverable. It is a great design! I do not love the Aussie fish though made also by 7S (Global Surf)..I agree with the above post if you go to big you do lose some of the maneuverability aspects of the fish. I am not sure what 13 st... equates to in lbs, but maybe demo a 6'6" before buying one. I think you will be stoked.

14lbs = 1 stone therefore 13st = 182lb or 82.73kgs. Tony's advice is good go for it :D

Thank you jaffa1949! I was curious about how many lbs a stone was. I will try to remember that one.
Have a great day!

Thanks guys - really appreciate the advice... will go and test the 6'8 and see how it goes. Also tempted by a JP quad fish - I like the idea of getting something made by a proper UK shaper and suporting them - but the Superfish is still luring me with its hype and positive reviews....

Still, worse decision in life to have to ponder on huh : )
