I'm a 19 year old girl 100lbs, 5"1 and have just purchased a 5"8 liquid shredder (softboard) shortboard to start surfing on. I've only bodyboarded before and I didn't want to start on a longboard but just wondering if i've made the right decision, i'm willing to put in the effort to learn. Thanks

I to learned on a short board because I was determined, but that does not mean I made the right decision. The thing is from what I know now from teaching surfing and watching tons of people is this. It is much easier to learn on a bigger board and you will get better much quicker. I would get a long board and you can improve very quickly. Get the basics down and then work your way down in size. This is the best way to learn quickly! You will also have more fun because you will progress so much faster. It is never to late to get a hold of a bigger board. Good Luck!
