Surfing Waves

Hi Guys

Need your help and any advice welcome. I'm heading back to Newquay this easter after a 6 month break and will be buying my 1st board. I've narrowed it down to...Beachbeat - Custom fibre Minimal or a Cortez or Mission Epoxy. I'm leaning towards the Beachbeat.

However, I live in London and don't have a car (no need in the city), so until I buy a car or relocate to the South West (as I'm trying to do), I'm forced to Tube and Train it back and forth.

My concern is buying a fibre board will be easier to ding whilst surfing as well as travelling. Having to negotiate the tube and train will make this more likely despite having a 10mm board bag and bubble wrap.

How easy is it to ding a fibre/epoxy board? am I being paranoid? What would you guys go for?

If it is your first surfboard I would get the board that is best for a beginner whether fiberglass or epoxy. I think it is more important to get the shape you are looking for than whether or not it is epoxy or Polyester. I do prefer polyester boards for the way they feel and flex when you surf them, but I also do have an epoxy fish that I like a lot. Surfboard dings can be fixed in either board fairly easy. You can also get a day bag fairly cheap to help protect your board. I would get the surfboard that fits your surfing ability, shape 1st materials 2nd.
