Thruster & Quad - advise please

Hi all just purchased a 6 6 webber Pulse with the 5 fin option - I have never surfed a quad and my new board only came with 3 fins!

When is a quad better over a thruster set up? what are the advabtages / disadvantages with the diffrent set ups

When in a quad set up are all 4 fins the same dimensions or should the front 2 be bigger than the back 2???

Any advise on quad set us would be apprecaited - I think i read theay are better in small junky surf????

Hello Johno,
different surfers like different feels in their surfing, so fin set up can be a personel preference. I like a thruster set up when I need the bite and drive to make faster waves, and when surfing really good waves. I like a twin fin set up(bigger side fins) with a small trailer fin set up over the quad set up for smaller mushy surf. This set up is plenty loose to me and gives you just enough bite to still project down the line and still surf fast. I know others like the quad set up, but you should experiment with both and see what you like best. Have fun!

To answer your other question, yes, the front fins on a quad are larger. See pic below:
