Hi all
Having finally purchased my first board (Roger Cooper 7ft 6") I now need to transport it!
I do have a Split screen camper van so will hope to be using that most of the time but for speed, comfort and benefit of the family I will also be using my own car - Mazda 6
Given we live in Midlands this means putting the board on for a lot of motorway driving so can any one recommed the best soft racks?
Bit concerend re stories of scratching paint
Any advice gratefully receieve

Hello,
If you are worried about your car I would look into getting a Thule hard rack system for your car. I know they cost a lot more, but they can custom fit most vehicles. You also can get locks on them so they do not get stolen. If you decide to do the soft racks just be carfull and look for ones with lots of padding and heavy non slip buckles. Use at your own risk!

^ agree - Thule and bits. expensive, but this stuff you can re-sell for big bucks and get most of your money back,.

Hay
I've just bought a pair of Claw Lockable soft surf racks and they are doing the job perfectly. After reading your posts I think its just what you need.
The lock is inside the car and there is a steel cable in the mesh of the webbing so no one can cut through it and steel your boards.
It also has all the benefits of a hard rack with none of the draw backs!
Take a look on

just bought a soft rack in my vacation to strip down the boards on the rental car....
got myself a rhino one... its heavy duty all the way and the cussions are realy thick and soft, so they go over roof rails too... quality wise, its ace!
shitty thing tho is, when i took it off after two weeks of almost constant use, the paint of the roof had suffered.. and i am not that sure anymore, if i would use it on my own car...
