Hi, I have some Thule roof bars on my car and have been looking for a decent solid and safe way of taking my boards to the beach so Ive been looking at possibly getting the Thule Surf board carrier 832.
Do any of you use this rack on your cars - if you do, is it worth paying the extra or would you rather have saved some cash and just got some tie down straps?

I cant seem to find any reviews from actual surfers on this item, maybe some of you can help.

Cheers in advance
Kieran

Save some money and just use some tie down straps. You would probably want straps with the other gizmo anyway. Also don't forget your www.sliderhanger.com. Save some repair $ too.
Take off late,
Glide

Glide,
are you sure the web address provided for slide hanger is correct? I tried the link and it is no go

Hmmm. Sorry. Typo. Try www.thehangpro.com or www.slidehanger.com. I use the Thule racks with straps. No issues. 10 years old and no rust.
Hang ten,
Glide

I have a 3+ hr highway drive to the nearest surfable beach, so getting a solid rack system was a big deal for me. I've been using the Thule 554XT, which I believe is similar in design to the 832. So far I have had no problems, it keeps the board secure at 70+mph.

Hay guys

As a alternative to the Thule hard rack take a look at the Claw lockable soft surf rack www.claw-lock.com it has all the benefits of a hard rack with the ease of a soft rack.
