traction pad placement

Hey eveybody.
Can anyone tell me what difference the placement of a traction makes in the boards performance?
By placement i mean closer to the back near the leash plug, over the middle fin (im using a thruster) versus more towards the nose, mainly over the side fins.
Im still learning, so much respect for any help you may give

try to ride with out it for a few times just using wax and just see where your best balance point is and then slap it on ur board

yea i figured as much. but as i said, im a begginer, and i misjudged where to put it, and ended up putting it pretty far up the board, more over the two side fins.
im thinking now that since im a begginer, i probably dont even need a traction pad, cuz im not doing crazy cutbacks or anything of that sort. I probably should have waxed it all and waited for the pad.
Think i should take the pad off and just surf wax and get my roots first?

yea if you want take it off and wax it up pretty heavy on ur tail cuz even tho your not going to be doing cut backs alot of your weight is going to be on your back foot, so i wud just wax it up and see where ur have the best luck with your foot placement and put the track pad on. i personally dont use track pads but they can save you money on wax so i wud go for it

yea after doing some thinking, i realized i really dont need a traction pad at this stage. and plus having a spot where i HAVE to put my back foot i feel isnt a good thing for the begginning stages because I havta find what works for me. Plus I felt like a bit of a kook with a traction pad on my board knowing that I really dont need it x)
definatly gonna take it off and wax it up tonight
