worn out wetsuit shoulders

Hey guys,

Relatively new to surfing (8 mo now) and I absolutely love my wetsuit. It's a ripcurl dawn patrol, very comfy and warm. I've been very good about washing it out with freshwater after each surf, avoiding sunlight drying, and I leave it out on the hanger that the store gave to me (very wide). The shoulders are getting a little worn out and I'm worried they are going to rip. Anybody have experience with patching up shoulders? I see there are some products out there, such as iron mend but they have mixed reviews. Thoughts?

Thanks

The hanger the store gave you is the problem with the shoulder wear. The stock hangers that come with the wetsuit are for displaying the suit in the store. Check out the SlideHanger, www.slidehanger.com It's the only hanger I've seen where you hang the wetsuit from the waist.
That's good to wash the suit in fresh water after each use. Keep it out of the direct sun, dry it inside out first then outside in. Don't use hot water! Don't hang from the shoulders!

If the shoulders are wearing out you should probably save your money for a new, or used wetsuit as trying to patch the shoulders will be difficult and may limit your paddling flexibility. I would not want to spend to much trying to repair the shoulder area of a wetsuit.
