Will wax melt if I leave my board in the car?

I like surfing after work when I can, because after a hectic day of work, it feels good to unwind by catching a few waves. I would like to leave my board in my car, so it'll save me about half an hour so I don't have run to my apartment, load my board and head to the beach. But if I left my surfboard in it's bag in my car, is the wax going to melt? Unfortunately, my office building doesn't have indoor parking, so I have to park it outside. Luckily, I have a spot under the tree, but the outside temperatures can easily reach 80F. Being in the shade will help, but I'm not sure how much it'll help.

Yes. Definitely.

Its the mark of a surfers car.... a puddle of wax in the cup holder and waxy streaks on the seats.

An insulated boardbag will help a little bit, but not much, and a board with melted wax can get stuck in the bag.

Have you thought about deck grip instead of a full wax job?

Thanks for the info, I guess if I want to go out afterwork, I'll have to stop by my apartment first. Seeing as I'm borrowing a board from a friend, full deck grip is probably out of the question. I saw a pretty torn up Flyer for $100 at a local shop, maybe I'll pick that up and use it for a junk board to surf after work for the junk surf that exists after work.

if it's super hot, it's inevitable. you'll end up with wax dripping down your rails and onto the bottom. as mentioned, board in bag, means board glued to bag. big mess to clean up.

when it's hot and know i have to leave the board in the car for the day, i let it sit in the sun for a moment and dewax with an old credit card or wax comb.

I could leave it my office, but I know that if I do, I'll never get any work done. All I'll do is stare it all day long and daydream of being anywhere but the office. Not to mention, it'll be a hassle since my office is on the second floor with a staircase that twists around and the elevator is on the far side of the building. I also don't want anyone to know that I'm going to leave early that day.

I have even had my wax melt really bad on top of the car on a hot day. Maybe someone needs to invent a bag with a cooling system....

Also be aware of it getting so hot that some boards actually compress if left in a hot car.

Perhaps a couple of strategically located icepacks in the bag might help with the cooling.
