Traction Pads or wax

Hey sorry if im digging up an old thread but I currently ride a 6"1 fish and im just wondering wether its worth getting a surfboard traction pad for it.? Thanks

Don't quote me on this but i think traction pads vs wax often comes down to personal preference :\

I can't speak from experience (never used a traction pad) but I'd imagine it would simply be the act of breaking the bond i.e. melting the glue somehow (a hairdryer?)

Edit: Dont know what i was going on about, my last board had a traction pad :\ I meant to say I've never removed one :P

I'm always for them. Make's it easier to find the tail and helps in duck dives. If you don't like it then hair-dryer plus turpentine will get it off again, then use some meths to get the turpentine off before you put the wax on.

ok I might try that but the waves all round the gower were small and mushy so not a good session with it yet

so i coincidentally went to a surf shop and talked to the owner a few days ago
and we was telling me the reason for a traction pad. since normally you would plant your back foot
in that area constantly with weight to bottom turn
that area gets the most "wear and tear" as in it is a lot more prone to dings and pressure dings etc.
and so its a lot better to have a traction pad than just wax
