Had a hard time threading my leash rope, did i damage plug?

Postby jconway2002 » Fri Mar 26, 2010 4:18 pm

For some reason I had areally hard time threading my leash rope through the plug. I had to spend about 10 minutes trying to force it through with needle nose pliers and it was a pain! I was pretty careful not to damage anything, but i wonder if i was being too ruff with a sensitive area? What exactly would happen if i did loosen or gouge the plug? Also, is there a clear sign that you dinged your bored? Im afraid of dinging my bored and not realizing it and letting it fill with water. Oh and if you didnt get im a total n00b. Thanks for taking the time to read and answer this. :blah:

It's a fair question...some of us take stuff like this for granted but it can seem a bit daunting when you know nothing starting out. Firstly, I'll assume you meant threading the cord through and not the railsaver or leash itself  It can be a bugger to get through, especially with a new leash. If you're still having trouble, thread some lighter more flexible cord through (shoelace maybe?) and use that to pull it through.

Is there any visible damage to the plug or the area around it? If there aren't and you're just concerned about the force you used it's probably fine. Leash plugs take a lot of abuse...waves are nasty things and quite capable of pulling you back up after diving to avoid a set. Think of it, all that force and pull goes through the leash plug.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I really was just nervous because I was not expecting to have to use so much effort and force to get this thing through. As far as I can tell ther is no damage, but I just had to ask so I could feel better. :P
