Wetsuit top vs Rashguard

The weather has been chilly and windy lately, so I was wondering what's the main difference between the two? I'm looking for maximum warmth, and I'm guessing rashguards are just for the sun and to prevent rashes. Anyone know any cheap-online sites to check out in the U.S for a wetsuit or rashguard?

rashguards are useless for warmth. If anything im colder wearing a rash guard than just in boardies. As for under a wettie they just stop rashes.
You can try a thermo rashguard which are pretty good. or if not gonna wear under a wettie try a straight forward wetsuit jacket 2/1mm. personally i dont like em as most of em dont have zippers and are a pain to get on and off. So i usually just chop the legs off a wetsuit and that works great. Check out
www.wetsuitwarehouse.com for some cheap ones. The cyclone looks cheapo but they are okay.

I mean, 75-70 degrees is pretty warm, you might be hot in the 2mm but dont go by only me i dont have a lot of experience. The long sleeve 1 mm sounds to me like its just a rash guard with long sleeves

ya the 1mm. Jet pilots tend to be really tight so you may want to ask them for the right size. Last time i ordered something jet pilot it was waaay too tight.

Thanks guys for the info. I'm going to check with them about the sizing, so I don't get screwed by Onestock's no return policy on swimwear.

I received my first wetsuit top in the mail recently, and boy oh boy does it feel tight. I'm not sure if this is the proper fit, or if it's too small? I'm able to bring my arms behind my back ( as if I were scratching behind my neck with one arm, and my other arm scratching at my mid-lower back). Will the water loosen it up a bit since I'm planning on trying it out before returning or keeping it. Any non-water tests to determine if it's too tight or just right?

^^^ was the brand jetpilot

had the same experience with one i ordered. Got a medium and felt lke an Xsmall

it will stretch out for sure. But in my case i knew mine would never stretch out enough it was like a straight jacket. A good test is to put the sucker on and try some shadow boxing and general aerobic movements. If it is very constricting then you might wanna exchange for a diff size.

Yeah bro it was a jetpilot lol. I read your post earlier about the sizing issue, but I thought, "hey I'm skinny, so it shouldn't be a problem." Guess I was wrong lol. I'm able to move pretty good while shadow boxing and practicing some jumping jacks haha. I'll give it a go when I surf this weekend, and decide if I'll return it for a size larger.

it's a good idea to buy all your wetsuit stuff in the summer when they usually go on sale. i got a fullsuit from ripcurl for 80 USD.
