Stash Zip Salted Shut - Is WD40 safe?

Hi all,

Happy new year!

I have a Rip Curl E bomb 5/3 wetsuit with the key stash on the leg. The zip has siezed. I've tried a bit of olive oil on it to free it and that didn't work. The zip is now falling apart!

I was going to try wd40 or boiling water but isn't there potential that these will damage the suit?

My wife make clothes and is convinced she can unpick the zio and fit a new one. Is it as simple as she thinks? ie just throw another on there with a standard stitch?
