5/3 Winter wettie advice please.

Postby derbyshire surfer » Mon Nov 23, 2009 7:24 pm

Hi all,

Just about to get a new wettie, ben surfing more this year and dropped a size :D .

I am looking at around £150.00 and really, after my Gul Vortex I would like something with a 'Batwing'. I would get another Vortex, just don't know if the other suits here are better/or as good?

Main choices are these:

Billabong Foil, I assume the 'barrier' sytem is the same as a batwing?

Ripcurl E3 Bomb

Gul Vortex

Cheers :D

As far as a winter suit goes:
For me it just has to be all smooooth skin - all of it, from tip to toe.

A partial smooth skin winter wetsuit can give you wind chill to the max just walking back to the car !
I have seen time change - suits having less and less smooth skin on them.

I say this now (as I am unlikely to produce my own brand for everyone) make full smoothie steamers again – some do but most don’t. at the moment.

Keep us unfrozen in the water !

(My past suits – Sola mostly smoothie Steamer - Gul mostly smoothie steamer – Sola Titanium mostly smoothie steamer, Sola summer smoothie suit as thick as my underpants but as slick as my willie !)

Smooth Skin Rules All !

[edit - drunk ! ]

I got a Matuse wetsuit recently that I really dig. Superlite, doesnt hold water like most suits. Only gripes is its hard to take on and off.

Hi

I have really strong recomondation for the Xcel X-flex wetsuit 5/4. It is a cheap and solid wetsuit with many features.
It is strongly recomended as a great value suit by the guys <edit ..> surfing in Norwegian waters everyday (read: cold).
